What's Included

The Process

1

Wash and Decontaminate

Brendan starts with a thorough two-bucket wash, followed by iron fallout remover and a clay bar. No polishing happens until the surface is completely clean — skipping this step ruins the correction.

2

Paint Assessment

A paint depth gauge checks how much clear coat you're working with, and the paint hardness is tested panel by panel. This decides which pads and compounds will do the job without cutting too deep.

3

Machine Polish

Working panel by panel with a dual-action or rotary polisher, Brendan removes swirl marks, light scratches, oxidation, and buffer holograms. Harder paints on Japanese and European vehicles need different compound combinations — this step isn't rushed.

4

Inspect Under Lighting

Every panel is checked under a high-intensity LED light to confirm defects are fully removed. Anything still showing gets another pass before moving on.

5

Protect the Finish

Once the correction is confirmed, a paint sealant or carnauba wax is applied to protect the work. For longer-lasting protection, a ceramic coating can be applied on top — ask about this when you get your quote.

Is This Right For You?

Paint correction is the right call if your car's paint looks dull, hazy, or covered in fine scratches that show up badly in direct sunlight. It's especially worthwhile before applying a ceramic coating, or if you've got a ute or SUV that's been through the washes one too many times and the paint shows it.

Common Questions About Paint Correction

A regular detail cleans and protects your paint — it doesn't fix damage in the clear coat. Paint correction uses machine polishing to physically remove swirl marks, scratches, and oxidation. You're not covering the defects up, you're removing them.
It depends on the depth. If you can feel a scratch with your fingernail, it's likely gone through the clear coat into the base coat — that needs a respray, not polishing. Anything in the clear coat layer can usually be significantly reduced or fully removed. Brendan will assess your paint before starting and give you a straight answer on what's achievable.
Most single-stage corrections on a standard sedan or SUV take four to six hours. A full multi-stage correction on a heavily swirled ute or larger vehicle can take a full day. You'll get a realistic timeframe when you request your quote.
Often, yes — but older vehicles have thinner clear coats from years of washing and sun exposure, so paint depth testing is especially important. Brendan checks before cutting to make sure there's enough clear coat to work with safely.
You don't need to, but it makes sense. Paint correction removes the defects — ceramic coating locks in the result and makes the surface much easier to keep clean going forward. If you're investing in a correction, protecting it is worth considering. Mention it when you get your quote and Brendan can run you through the options.
